To develop allergy tests, you have to have the allergens readily available. Over the years, Phadia, now Thermo Fisher Scientific, has acquired a unique competence in the large-scale cultivation of wild flowers, weeds and other plants, and we now produce the bulk of the pollenbased allergens we use in the 400-acre plantations surrounding our processing plant in Sweden. For allergens not available in Sweden, we have secured supply from relevant geographical areas. In addition to our wide variety of pollens, we also produce a range of pure allergens from moulds, insect venoms, foods and animal epithelia.
Used within the field of molecular allergology, ImmunoCAP Allergen Components are single proteins purified from their natural source or produced via recombinant techniques.
Over our nearly 40-year-long history, we have perfected our production techniques to ensure a constant supply of pure, stable and active allergens. Our custom-built premises feature separate, aseptic and environmentally controlled buildings for different allergen types. Pure raw materials are forwarded to quality control and processing facilities at the test production plant in Uppsala.
